Input and output
What is Input-Output? Similar to the computer concept of Input-Output, the reasoning questions based on this topic involves an Input which is given in the form of numbers and words and then gives out an Output following a certain format.
In this type of questions, a message comprising of randomised letters/words or numbers or a combination of both is given as the input followed by steps of rearrangement to give sequential outputs. The candidate is required to trace out the pattern is the given rearrangement and then dermine the desire output step, according as is asked in the questions.
Patterns to Look for in the given sequence
1. Arranging the given words in forward/reverse alphabetical order.
2. Arranging the given numbers in ascending/descending order.
3. Writing a particular set of words in the reverse order, stepwise.
4. Changing places of words/numbers according to a set pattern.
The above points are possible criteria which you should look for to determine the pattern in a given rearrangement. In this, in order to find number of steps, write the number below the digit/letter if it is to be arranged. However if it is already arrnaged, then number it above and after count the number below the letter/digit, which reveals the number of steps, as shown in example below.
