What is IBPS Clerk Exam?

IBPS Clerk is a Common Written Exam (CWE), conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) for recruitment to nationalized banks in India to fill vacancies for clerical level jobs. CWE is a pre-requisite for selection of personnel for Clerical cadre posts in Public Sector Banks. Candidates who are selected for clerical cadre have to be on probation for 6 months. After the completion of the period, they are required to appear for the assessment test/performance review in order to confirm as permanent employees.

The clerical post is an entry-level cadre for anyone who wishes to become a banker. They mainly participate in the day to day activities of banking and also have the responsibility to address the queries and guidance of the customers.

Ans6. No, 60% in graduation is not necessary to appear for IBPS CLERK exams. Percentage in graduation is not considered in the eligibility criteria for IBPS CLERK exams.

Ans7. Yes, a B.Tech student is eligible for IBPS CLERK exam. A candidate only needs to have a Graduation Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.

IBPS Clerk Eligibility Criteria 2020: Age Limit

The minimum age limit is 20 years while the maximum age limit is 28 years as on September 1, 2020. Candidates must have been born not earlier than September 2, 1991, and not later than September 1, 2000. Candidates belonging to reserved categories are provided relaxation in the upper age limit.

Ans13. Yes, except the English language test as the other tests are conducted bilingually, i.e. English and Hindi.

  • Preliminary Exam
  • Mains Exam (Objective + Subjective)

Ans16. Yes, there is sectional and overall cut off in Prelims as well as Mains Examination. A candidate has to qualify both the cut-offs in order to secure the seat for the next phase of the exam.
