The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the “Combined Defence Services” (CDS) Examination twice a year (UPSC CDS 1 & UPSC CDS 2) for recruiting candidates for the Indian Military Academy, Officers Training Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Indian Air Force Academy. The Notification is usually released in the months of October/ November and June/ July, and the examination is generally conducted in February and November respectively. CDS Negative Marking

In CDS paper, each question carries 4 options and out of which only 1 option is correct. Negative marking is applicable for every wrong marked answer. For each incorrect answer, 1/3 of the marks will be deducted. If aspirants mark more than one option it is treated as incorrect. However, if a question is left unanswered there will be no negative marking.

  • CDS exam will be held in offline mode.
  • All the questions will be objective type in nature.
  • The language of the question paper will be English and Hindi.
  • Negative marking is applicable hence, do not attempt questions blindly.
  • The answer sheet should be clean and wrinkle-free.
  • Answers should be circled properly, improper marking of the circle will not be considered.

The Union Public Service Commission which conducts the exam has prescribed cds syllabus for 2022 exam which is mentioned below. The syllabus will include English, General Knowledge, and Elementary Mathematics. CDS exam syllabus for girls as well as for male aspirants is same. CDS Syllabus for OTA and syllabus for IMA including AFA is same for GK and English, where as IMA & AFA aspirants have an additional paper of Elementary Maths. English Syllabus

The cds exam syllabus for English section of the UPSC CDS exam is designed to test the candidate’s understanding of basic grammar, vocabulary, and knowledge of the English Language. Elementary Mathematics syllabus

The elementary mathematics section is not applicable for candidates who opted for OTA. This section is exclusively for IMA, AFA, and INA aspirants.
